Discover the Essence of Bunjil Farm
Where Sustainability Meets Tradition
Bunjil Farm, nestled in Lauriston, Victoria, embraces a commitment to sustainability. Explore our farm's historical buildings and discover our pioneering efforts in promoting hemp cultivation as a renewable resource.
Bunjil Farm, is a labour of love, a remarkable journey and a true "tree change" that has granted the current custodian, Lyn, the freedom to connect with the earth's bounties.
Honouring Indigenous Heritage
Bunjil, the Creator
In our quest for a meaningful name for the farm, we found inspiration in our local heritage—the indigenous people of the Kulin nation. They are the oldest continuing culture on Earth, and in their culture, Bunjil is revered as the creator of the earth, its mountains, lakes, fauna, flora, and laws. Bunjil, represented by the eagle totem, continues to watch over his creation. We are grateful for the enthusiastic support and permission from the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation For Languages to use this name.
Preserving Heritage
19th Century Buildings
Our farm boasts a rich history, with over a dozen buildings dating back to the latter half of the 19th century. These structures were painstakingly rescued from their original sites in the early part of this century and were relocated to Bunjil Farm. This embodies our steadfast commitment to reuse and recycle wherever possible.
A Sustainable Ethos
Environmental Care
The indigenous culture, spanning millennia, imparts a profound creed that resonates with us all—environmental care and sustainability. At Bunjil Farm, we embrace these principles wholeheartedly, eschewing pesticides and herbicides, and meticulously respecting our environment in every way possible.

Native Encounters
Bunjil Farm invites you to revel in the open space, the serenity of lily-laden dams, the playful blue wrens, and the charming robin red-breasts. Encounter corellas, rosellas, and melodious magpies, observe kangaroos and elusive echidnas, and if you're truly fortunate, witness the majestic wedge-tailed eagle—Bunjil himself—soaring overhead. He graced us with his presence on the day of our first hemp crop harvest, ensuring we upheld his teachings of taking care of the land and not taking away more than we input.
